Changes To The Modern Office Plan

With changes happening around the world and many people staying home from their traditional office spaces, it is unclear when things will return to “normal.” During this time, many conventional offices have converted to working from home. While this was only a temporary change, it seems that this may be the way in which most people will work from now on.

Recently, Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter, announced that he would allow employees to work from home permanently. Although everyone cannot work remotely, many office employees are able to complete assignments from just about anywhere that has internet access and an adequate desk.

Here are some of the changes to expect from offices in the upcoming years:

Less Open Offices

The open office plan began during the 18th century and became popular during the 20th century as a way to maximize productivity for business owners. With an emphasis on social distancing, offices may begin to revert back to cubicles and dividing spaces. This gives employees increased privacy and space. Some offices may decrease the number of workers due to the space needed to accommodate everyone.

Increased Remote Work

As mentioned before, many employees can work from home. The stay-at-home orders that many states have implemented have shown that many office workers are able to do their jobs from home. Given the proper equipment and tools, they will have more independence over their work lives.

Dividers & Less Collaborative Spaces

Despite the social distance, teams are still finding ways to collaborate, even if it is not face-to-face. With the help of technology, many workgroups are still communicating from their own personal spaces.
